Back in the old days
we would tag along
and play different
games.
We used to play hide and sick, teacher and student, piko, patintero, luksong tinik, chinese garter and a lot more.
When we were growing up,
like typical teenagers,
we would hang out - either just the two of us, or in the company of
friends.
I would always tease you and you will just smile.
You were always willing to share everything, from your clothes to the space in your bed. Of course, I was always very accepting and would just say thank you.
When I am home and away, I would update you over the telephone.
And when the generation
of text messaging became the norm, you taught me how to send messages via
text.
You were never sweet and affectionate, but I knew you cared.
One time I received a
text message from you saying, "I love you." I texted back
and informed you that you wrongly sent your message to me. You replied with a smiley and said it was really for me.
When my heart was broken,
you would console me by
saying
someone better will come
along and
love me
unconditionally.
You got married. I wasn't informed
or invited. But except
for that part,
in every step and stage
of your family life,
I have and had always
been there.
You were about to deliver your first born,
I wasn't aware. You sent
a text message
asking for my prayers
because you were
about to give birth.
Years after, you called and asked me
to come by and be the
godmother of
your second child.
On your third child, for each birthday
that your family celebrated,
I have to be always
there.
We would go together on beach outings
almost every summer, of
course
with the company of our
loved ones.
It's always a joy
reminiscing those times
and how we continue to
appreciate and love
the persons that we have
become.
